The Woodrow Wilson Monument Returns to Prague Gala, presented by the American Friends of the Czech Republic, will be a celebration of Czech democracy, freedom, progress, and the partnership between Woodrow Wilson and Czechoslovak Liberator and President T.G. Masaryk to create the Czechoslovak Republic. Proceeds from the event will go toward reconstructing the Woodrow Wilson Monument in Prague, which was destroyed by the Nazis in 1941.
The Gala will also honor Civil Society Vision Award Honorees, Pioneering U.S. Astronauts Eugene Cernan, Capt., USN (Ret.) and James Lovell, Jr., Capt., USN (Ret.). Two remarkable American astronauts of Czech heritage, Capt. Cernan and Capt. Lovell, will be honored in this third presentation of the Civil Society Vision Award. Like Presidents Wilson and Bush, Capt. Cernan and Capt. Lovell are men of vision, not only for the incredible views they saw on missions to the moon, but for the “can do” spirit of know-how, bravery, and selflessness that they embodied in those efforts.
