Summer Czech Language Opportunities
The University of Washington Department of Slavic Languages and Literatures is offering a Summer Intensive Elementary Czech 401 - 403 course (June 22 - August 21, 2009). The program provides the equivalent of one year Czech studies during the UW academic year. The daily class meetings (Monday - Friday from 1:10 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.) of summer intensive Czech are the best way to learn a new language. Students will build a strong foundation of the target language, focusing on conversational competence and interactive routine of everyday social situations. Immersing yourself in the Czech language and exposure to Czech culture (folksongs, literature, history, films, etc.) will bring rapid progress to your communicative skills. The 9-week program encompasses 140 hours of instruction, and a number of outside-class activities. Find information about enrollment at: http://www.summer.washington.edu/summer/home.asp.
Registration starts on April 20th, and continues through May. Enroll now!
Students who complete this course are eligible to participate in the three-week Early Fall in Prague program. The study abroad program includes lectures by Czech writer Ivan Klima, politicians, historians, architects, etc., as well as a number of field trips in-and-around Prague. Students can earn an additional 6 credits for participation in the Prague program. For more information, email J. Soldanova.
