Miroslav Ambroš

The Center for Czech Education and Culture, together with Cornish College of the Arts, is proud to bring Miroslav Ambroš to Seattle for a very special performance. Miroslav Ambroš (born May 9, 1987) began his professional violin career at the age of 11. During his young career, he has already won numerous prizes in national and international competitions, and frequently plays in the main concert halls in the Czech Republic and all across Europe, Asia and in Canada.

Seattle is fortunate to be a stop on Mr. Ambroš’ premiere US tour. Accompanied by Zuzana Ambrošová, Miroslav will deliver a program that you won’t want to miss!

Miroslav Ambroš (born May 9, 1987) began his professional violin career at the age of 11. After studies with Ivan Ženatý at the C. M. von Weber College of Music in Dresden, his early potential earned him a place at the Prague Conservatory where he continued his studies with Ivan Ženatý and Jiří Hnyk. In 2006 he became a graduate of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague under Prof. Ivan Straus, successfully completing a Master’s degree in 2012. Since 2008 he has been a private student of Master Josef Suk. During his young career, he has won a number of prizes in national and international competitions, including winning the international competition “Du Prix des Jeunes Talents Européens de Musique Classique” in Marseille, France in 2003. Now living in Prague, Ambroš is much in demand for his concerts. He regularly performs with symphony orchestras in the Czech Republic, including the Prague Chamber Philharmonic Orchestra, Prague Symphony Orchestra, Czech National Symphony Orchestra, Moravia Philharmonic Orchestra, Bohuslav Martinu Philharmonic Orchestra, Prague Chamber Orchestra, State Philharmonic Orchestra Košice and Czech Chamber Orchestra.He plays on a very rare instrument made by the Italian violinmaker Camillo de Camilli (1734).

Zuzana Ambrošová began studies at the Conservatory of Košice in 1973 when she was only thirteen years old, as an unusually talented child. As a laureate of Smetana´s piano contest in Hradec Králové (1974) and Beethoven´s Hradec contest, she joined the Košice National Philharmony at the age of sixteen. After finishing studies at the Academy of musical arts in Prague, conducted by prof. Zdenek Jilek in 1982, she was in practice at the Conservatory of Košice as a piano lecturer for ten years. She has won prizes for piano in international competition and has performed with the Košice and Vienna Philharmonics as a soloist, and has performed throughout Europe. She also recorded for Czech Television and Czech broadcasting network. Since 1992 she has been in practice at the Prague Conservatory, Jan Neruda Gynmasium, and as a member of AMU´s musical faculty.
